It’s been a while since I’ve shown you our cabin in detail. About five years actually. I thought about it often, but never took the time to take the photos. Now that the cabin is for sale, this will surely be the last tour, and what better time since I can take advantage of the professional photos that were recently taken? Let me share with
8 Cool Kitchen DIY Projects
When I thought about writing this post and curating ideas, I had two criteria in mind: the projects had to offer a good bang for your buck, AND, they had to be projects I would be willing to tackle myself. Most of these projects are easy to implement, but a couple of them involve a bit of work and a modest outlay of cash (the kitchen island for
How To Make Concrete Leaves
A few weeks ago I showed you the above concrete leaf, but I had a few kinks to work out so I didn’t include how I made it. Since then a few of you have expressed interest in the process, but before I begin here’s a disclaimer: There are many ways to make concrete leaves. I looked at several videos on YouTube (two of them are at
The Fire Pit is Ready!
It’s been a busy, productive week, and I’m happy to say the fire pit is finally finished :). Here’s what it looked like Sunday morning. And here’s what it looked like Sunday afternoon. We had picked up the wheel rim at a junkyard a few weeks ago, and most of the rocks came from our yard, while a few others from the wooded areas
My Achy Breaky Arms
I’m thinking of giving up my gym membership and becoming a mason. At least I would if I had a gym membership. Now I know why masons not only charge a lot, but have killer biceps. You probably already guessed what this post is about. The stone retaining wall is finished! Can I get an AMEN!?? Here’s what we had to work with
How To Restain A Wood Table Top
I’m probably the only blogger in the history of blogging who writes about a table redo a few days before Thanksgiving! I know I should be writing about food or tablescapes or other things holiday related, but indulge me, ok? I’ve talked about our small dining table before here and more recently, here where I mentioned the sanding of this table was turning out to be more work
Where All Our Junk Is, aka ‘The Shed’
Let’s be honest. Have you ever seen anyone make such a big deal out of a storage shed? It’s not even a cute one. There’s no windows or sweet little window boxes. There’s no adorable cupola or even pretty flowers around it. And there isn’t even super cool organizing systems inside. But, I admit it. I’m more than a little obsessed with this space.
A Cheater’s Guide to Outdoor Curtains & Final Porch Reveal!
Well, the porch is finally done. The finishing touch was the curtains. I’ve been searching for weeks for some affordable outdoor fabric and came up short, so I decided to use …wait for it…wait for it… SHOWER CURTAIN LINERS! I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking I’m losing it. Well, let me tell you that shower curtains, and even liners, are not what they used
A Sneak Peek At The Porch
Last week I showed you what our screened-in porch looked like. I had ordered a slipcover and a rug, and I was thrilled they both arrived in just a couple of days so we were able to bring them up to the cabin this past weekend. Here’s a quick look at the porch, and I have to say I really, really like the rug! I’m
Painting the Porch Floor Red!
I forgot painting with red was so challenging. I covered up the Pepto Bismol pink primer with a true red color this past weekend, and realized red is very unforgiving. I ended up needing to paint two coats, which was a huge pain because it was super humid so everything took at least 12 hours to dry. I didn’t have enough paint to give the
