No, I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth, but I HAVE gotten a Mac, so it’s almost the same thing. 😉
We need an additional computer at the office, so I figured we would use the one that I’ve been using for what seems like the last three decades and get a new one for the house, which is where I work my magic. The problem is I don’t like Windows 8, and if you’re buying a PC these days then most likely that’s what you’re gonna get. We have Windows8 at the cabin and is in fact what I’m using right now to compose this post. I also have been thinking of getting a Mac for a while, especially after getting hacked a few months ago. So last Saturday we went to Apple thinking we would just gather some information, but after talking with the associate I was sold. Not only do they have a great support program, but they also have ongoing workshops and what REALLY sold me was they can teach me all about the GoPro camera I recently got for Christmas, as well as how to edit movies using their built in iMovie program. WHO KNEW??!
So, they transferred my data from my PC to the Mac and I already took an intro one-on-one class. I’m going back on Tuesday for GoPro training and maybe learn about the Mac’s built in photo editing software as well. Right now I use Picasa mostly, but at the cabin on the laptop I use PhotoScape. I’m probably going to get LightRoom and do away with everything else and just use that.
Meanwhile, I came up to the cabin yesterday because I’ve been anxious to get the pantry in order and I wanted to get a head start and hopefully show you the before/afters, but guess what? The ‘before’ pics are on my Mac at home, so I’m just going to give you a little sneak peek, ok?
Right now, the kitchen is a disaster! We are moving in March to what will probably be a space that doesn’t have as spacious a kitchen as we currently have at the rental, so I’m bringing things to the cabin that we don’t use that much. I’m also purging as I go along, but I seem to be keeping a lot more than I thought. Isn’t that the way it usually goes?
I’ll be back with the low down on the pantry redo in a few days.

Seems so many bloggers are moving right now. I have never had a Mac, but I hear they’re great. Just too rich for my blood!

Doreen, I’ve had a Mac for several years – I love it. It didn’t take long to learn to use it and I’ve never had any major problems with it.
I will be faced with down-sizing in about three years if all goes the way we’ve planned. Any tips will be appreciated! So I’m looking forward to reading about your process.
Hugs,
Cecilia

I don’t know anyone who has a Mac who doesn’t like it, including my daughter who’s been after me for years to get one. I’m confident the learning curve won’t be too long, but now I know who to call if I have issues ;).

Hi Doreen, I love using the Mac and it’s the best and good luck with yours. Wishing you luck also with I think is a move for you? Thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog yesterday and leaving that sweet comment on the lentil soup with kale. Great minds think a like. Have a nice weekend.

It takes awhile to settle down and make the changes…everything we do on our computers seems to be so urgent. Hubby bought me a new laptop well before Christmas and I have yet to switch over to it because I’m already behind the eight ball in blogging!! SO silly! But good luck, sweetie! 🙂
XO,
Jane
