Something happened last weekend that has me baffled.
After an evening with friends eating smores around a bonfire, we went to sleep around 1:00 a.m. After around 30 minutes or so Fisherman got up and went into the kitchen. The kitchen is located about 12′ from our bedroom, separated by a small hallway. If someone is in the kitchen and turns on a light, I would be able to see it from the bedroom.
I noticed he didn’t turn on any lights, which is very unusual for him. I was half way sleeping at the time, so I didn’t bother to get up. After a bit (I don’t remember exactly how long) he came back to bed and that was that.
At around 8:30 the next morning I got up, walked into the kitchen, and saw this:
Something else I saw (which, if you knew Fisherman, you would know how strange this is) was one of his slippers about 10′ from the chair in the kitchen. Fisherman never goes anywhere in the house without his feet covered. Ever. The other slipper was in a random spot near the bed.
There were also a few wet patches of water in various spots on the kitchen floor. I cleaned those up and picked up the chair. Around 9 Fisherman got up and while I was telling him what happened, I noticed the back of the chair that had been on the floor.
I hadn’t noticed this when I picked it up. That alone is a bit weird, but then again I probably didn’t even look at the back of the chair when I picked it up.
What’s weird is he didn’t remember getting out of bed. He didn’t remember any of it. Maybe he was sleepwalking. I’ve never known him to do that, but it seems plausible.
That doesn’t really explain the white paint on the chair. We have white paint in the house, and I checked to see signs that the cans may have been tampered with but didn’t find any, nor did I find any brushes that had white paint on them. It would have been odd for him to go down to the basement where we have the paint, open a can and do this to the chair…not to mention not remembering.
He remarked that the paint spot looks like a bear print, and we do have bears in the area. Maybe there’s a bear looking for work painting houses and this is his calling card?
Why is it the theme from Twilight Zone keeps playing inside my head?
