Now that the year is quickly coming to a close, I was thinking about some of the projects I’ve blogged about this year and thought it would be a good idea to highlight some of the ones I really think you should give a try and one project in particular that maybe you shouldn’t.
Whether you’re a weekend warrior or do projects all the time there are bound to be some hits and misses. I’ve noticed sometimes that the projects that I’ve given lots of thought to and require a lot of time and effort don’t always turn out as nice as the ones that are easy and nearly effortless.
My favorites were chosen for different reasons, but in order to make the cut, they either had to be super easy to execute, inexpensive or have a big impact. In some cases, they hit the trifecta. If something catches your eye, just click the link below each picture for the ‘how to’.
I’m going to start with some super easy pillow projects. This first two you don’t need a sewing machine, or even thread for that matter.
For this one, you’ll want a sewing machine, but it’s really easy and should only take about 30 minutes the first go around. Once you’ve hit your stride, you can do these in 20 minutes.
Here’s a picture of the completed porch at the cabin. Want to know what the drapes are made of? Hint: it’s probably in your bathroom.
I loved this next project, and apparently Mod Podge Rocks did too because they featured it!
I wanted to update the kitchen cabinets at the cabin, so I came up with this inexpensive makeover.
Have you heard about Air Stone? If not, you should definitely check it out!
Now here’s the project that added 10 years to my life and more than a few grey hairs.
It’s a great idea to look back on the year’s projects. Sometimes we think we’re not making much progress when in fact we are.
There’s lots more to see and you can find everything on my home page just by clicking on ‘Categories’ and choosing whatever it is you’re interested in from the drop down menu.
What about you? Did you get as much done this year as you had hoped? What are some of the projects you want to accomplish in 2014?

Your upholstery picture has me laughing. I had a DOLL experience this year that I’d rather forget, ha ha. I bought a magazine explicitly to make this doll, and it just wasn’t working out right at ALL. Finally i emailed the designer ( found her blog ) and when she checked into it, the pattern was not printed correctly or something.
I lost all desire to make a doll again, lol! HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS! 🙂

Hi Doreen,
I remember your porch reveal because that’s around the time that I discovered your wonderful blog!! And, of course the upholstery paint project was more recent and remember your comments back then about it. The ones preceding the porch reveal are very pretty and because they’re simple, they rate high in my books, too!
Well, it’s Christmas Eve, and I’m just catching up with some visits. Just want to say that I am so grateful to have found you, TOO, in this big blogosphere!! You are a kind and intelligent woman, and a wonderfully sweet soul.
Merry Christmas to you, my friend!

I remember your grandma’s envelope pillow for sure, but you have some awesome projects! You are right, they are all quite easy to do. I think I might have to try them all 😉 I really appreciate your findings on painting fabric as I have considered doing that. I love how you find easy ways to pull of successful and useful ideas. Hope you are enjoying the holidays xoxo Amy

Haha…I remember reading the post about painting the chair. 🙂 Love the envelope pillows. Once I get all the sawdust out of the air here, I’m bustin’ out my sewing machine. Hope you had a great Christmas!!
