Can you guess who sent me these pretty packages? (Don’t peek!)
Hint: The language on the card is Greek and the sender is a blogger.
Yup. It’s none other than our very own sweet, pretty Poppy over at PoppyView.
Now, we all know she’s an amazing poet and singer, but did you also know she’s a kick ass baker? Neither did I, but I (and my scale) know now!
Thanks Poppy!
I think.
Nestled inside that lovely wrapped package were these delectable delights that Poppy baked just for lil’ ol me! The moment I unwrapped the container, I was immediately greeted with a delightfully distinctive lemony fragrance, which originated from Poppy’s very own lemon tree.
These delicious Greek Easter cookies, which were carefully and lovingly wrapped, traveled across the pond to my humble abode where, I dare say, they were consumed post haste with afternoon tea or coffee by myself and Fisherman.
Although it took over two weeks for the parcel to arrive, the cookies were perfectly intake and tasted as fresh as the day they were made, I’m sure.
This adorable package housed some delicious Cretan honey, which, according to Poppy, derives its delicate flavor from thyme, wildflowers and conifer tree essence.
I use honey fairly often as a sweetener in smoothies, but I wanted to highlight the delicate taste of this honey in a recipe and I remembered I had a fabulous fruit salad dressing using honey as one of its primary ingredients. Now that Spring is here and fresh fruit is readily available, I thought I’d share this easy and healthy dish with you.

Yes, the world is a big place, but seems infinitely smaller and warmer when one is blessed to have such sweet and thoughtful blog friends like Poppy. It’s a wonderful thing…
In other news…
Thanks so much for the much needed feedback and advice about the rug and recliner a couple of weeks ago. I’ve decided on the dining room rug, which is this one:
It’s out of stock right now but hopefully should be available sometime in May. I’m still not 100% sure about the living room rug, but I’m leaning toward this one in the middle:
My only hesitation is that the background might be a little too dull, but when I looked at a closeup it looks slightly brighter than it appears in the picture so I’m cautiously optimistic it will work.
Spring has FINALLY arrived here in Massachusetts, and now our thoughts our leaning toward fixing up the yard. The first order of business is to build a fire pit. Do you have one? What kind? Any suggestions would be welcome.

Being basically lazy I go for a gas firepit on the deck. We have a cheap metal one we use for fireparties on our dock. Many a peep has been roasted there, washed down with good wine and followed by laughter.

Oh my goodness, I’m awfully hungry all of the sudden. What a sweet gift from Poppy, pun intended in this case. I can only imagine how exciting it must be to get a special delivery from “across the pond”. It’s kind of like stopping off at a European bakery for some goodies, only much better!

What a sweet (literally) gift from Poppy! She is such a great gal and I had no idea she sang!
I will try the fruit salad, I’m using honey more and more now as well.
Good luck with the fire pit. There are tons to choose from, I guess it depends on how large you want to go.
Love the rug choice!

What a treat to get such a nice gift from a fellow blogger across the pond. Your honey fruit salad idea is really different as I had not thought to use honey as a fruit dressing. Can’t wait to see how the rugs look.

What a delight! I’m sure you felt as if Poppy’s presence was there with you as you opened the package and enjoyed the delicious treat she had baked with her own hands. How very personal!

For whatever reason, fruit salad never seems to interest me in the winter. But let spring and summer come and I cannot get enough. This looks absolutely delicious, and I’ll be trying it soon.

That is so sweet of Poppy! Those look so yummy…I love lemon cookies! The fruit salad sounds good too…I will need to try it.
As for the rug, make sure you can return it if it ends up not looking like you want it to. We do have a fire pit. It’s just a hole in the ground lined with brick with brick walls. Simple but it works for us. Hope you have a good week!

What a wonderful surprise package. Unexpected delights are the best! We have a chimnea that we use for fires, so I’m no help to you there. I did see a billboard advertisement for Menard’s that showed a firepit that said it was easy to build. (Don’t know if you have Menard’s home improvement stores by you).

What a sweet gift from Poppy! I think it’s so nice that she made you something homemade like that so it’s like you were eating right there in her kitchen! I like the choice you made on the rugs. I’ve ordered things online before that didn’t look like they did online once I got them. Some things I’ve kept and accepted, and others I’ve returned. But, I guess that’s just the risk you take. Just make sure you can return it easily if necessary! Glad to hear that Spring has finally arrived in MA. I know y’all had a brutal long winter!

Poppy is so sweet! I’ll bet those cookies were as good as they looked 🙂
I love the rug choices and that salad looks yummy.

They were actually even better than they looked Rue! Addicting is not an understatement. She’s lucky she doesn’t live near me, or I’d be nagging her to make them all the time.
