Recently I heard the phrase ‘rustic and refined’ and I thought ‘THAT’S the feel I’m trying to achieve at the cabin’! To me, it represents a style that is warm with lots of texture, a tad sophisticated but doesn’t take itself too seriously.
These glasses, a recent purchase from Pier I, represent that style well and I’m totally in love with them.
These metallic orbs are another new favorite of mine. I like things that are a bit different and versatile, and these fit the bill. I think I’ll use these for months to come.
The table runner and napkins are a combination of velvet and a nubby linen like fabric which are the perfect combination of rustic and refined. I love velvet, and I love linen, so these are two items I couldn’t pass up.
I got 9 of those battery operated ‘candles’ at a tag sale for $4.00. Everything else came from HomeGoods or Pier I, two of my favorite stores. I don’t know about you, but I can spend hours looking around in those stores, AND then spend hours playing around with table settings, especially this time of year. I think we can all agree the colors of Autumn are fabulous to work with and such fun.
When it comes to decorating, I think tablescapes are one of my favorite things to do. I just wish I had more storage space so I could collect interesting items and take them out when the mood hits.
What’s your favorite?

I like the orbs. They remind me of rocks with the minerals showing through. And I happen to love rocks!

I love the idea of “rustic and refined” and think you’ve achieved it quite well. The orbs are beautiful and I love the amber pumpkin (I think it’s a pumpkin)!

Rustic and refined…I love that expression because it so fits the look I’ve been loving. Mixing textures seems to be what it’s all about. I love everything you’ve found recently, especially that glittery pumpkin, and yes, the glasses are beautiful. I vow every year not to buy anything else for the holidays and it’s so hard when stores come up with new, cool stuff!!
Your tablescape is beautiful. I have some fall plates and accessories at the lake that I bought at Cracker Barrel on the way there a few years ago. I keep forgetting to bring it all home and it’s not doing me any good there! lol!
Have a great week, Doreen!
XO,
Jane

Love love love your beautiful table – I was just in Home Goods last night! I have been dreaming about transferware dinner plates with turkeys on them for Thanksgiving dinner for years. Home Goods had them so I bought them! My husband and my grown son went with me (actually I bribed them with dinner out) and I was so excited about the plates and they both just shook their heads at me. I haven’t been to Pier 1 in years – maybe it’s time for me to sneak away from home and browse…..

Your comment made me smile Sharon. Ok, that’s not true. It actually made me laugh out loud! I’m picturing you getting excited about plates and envisioning their eyes rolling. When you stop and think about it, those of us that get warm and fuzzy about plates ARE a little strange (but in a good way). lol
