It’s two days since I had my minor meniscus knee surgery, and I’ve been getting some emails asking about how things went so I thought I would do a quick post about it. Today is Sunday, and as you can see, I’m feeling well enough to sit down and put a quick post together.
There was a lot of back and forth about when the actual surgery would take place. First it was the 7th, then the 13th at 7 a.m. (yikes!), then the 14th at 10 (much better). (On the 13th we ended up having a Nor’easter with about a foot of snow, so that would NOT have been ideal.)
I arrived at the facility as instructed at 9 and was greeted by a friendly nurse whose name was Kathy. (I don’t know about you, but I’ve never met a Kathy I didn’t like.) She prepared me for surgery, then the anesthesiologist came in and brought me to my happy place. It was exactly 10 a.m. and at 10:40 I was woken up. It was over. By 11:30 Fisherman and I were on our way home with some prescriptions and instructions for the next few days.
Friday and Saturday were spent pretty much spent in bed, and I took the pain meds as directed. But they were making me a little nauseous and drowsy and since the pain isn’t bad at all I’m no longer taking them. I was able to do some minor leg exercises beginning yesterday, and today I was able to take a shower for the first time since Friday morning…not a moment too soon ;).
As you can see, they gave me a cane but I’m not using it. I definitely don’t need it, plus I find canes cumbersome. I’m supposed to use a stationary bike beginning today, but we don’t have one. Of course, we sold one a few years ago because we never used it. Fisherman is going to Sports Authority to see if he can get a little portable one. If not, no big deal.
I’ve been passing the time by surfing the net, watching tv, talking on the phone a bit and looking at some Lightroom videos. I will admit Lightroom still has me stumped. This picture of the cane was edited there, but when I went to retrieve it it wasn’t edited at all. I wound up using PicMonkey. I really don’t know if I’m going to get the hang of it which makes me very frustrated, because I’m sure the process is fairly simple. Like they say…everything is easy once you know how to do it.
I’ve been visiting some of your blogs, but my attention span is fairly short so I’m taking it slow. I hope to catch up with not only your blogs but my own fairly soon. Thank you so much for all your good wishes. I appreciate it so much! Here’s hoping Mother Nature has shown us her worst this year, and Spring is just around the corner.
