Every year, the Botanical Gardens at Stockbridge in the Berkshires gathers volunteers to create decorative elements that are purchased by Gala attendees at their annual fundraiser. Last year, my friends and I volunteered to make some wreaths, but this year we decided to give centerpieces a go. Whether you love natural elements for decorating or you just want to save some money without sacrificing style, here are some inspiring centerpieces and wreaths to get your creative juices flowing.
This one was put together by my friend Cheryl. As a former art teacher, it’s easy to see she has the knack for balance and design.
This next one was done by Penny, who used to own her own floral shop. It’s clear she knows what she’s doing!
Some of you may have seen the log centerpieces that became popular last year. I myself put one together which you can see here, but here’s the same idea with a twist. No candles, just various natural elements glued to the log.
And of course you’ve all seen the adorable fairy gardens! There were really some irresistible ones that some truly creative and talented people put together.
This fungi was actually gathered from the woods, dried and used in this stunning arrangement. I like that it has a modern but rustic vibe.
Now on to the wreaths. There were dozens, so I just picked a few of my favorites to show you. Most of us don’t think of purple this time of year, but it works!
Here’s a neat idea for decorating shutters. Two small square wreaths decorated simply make such a sophisticated and unique statement.
I like bling as much as the next gal, maybe more, but there’s something to be said for making the most of what Mother Nature has to offer. Don’t you think?

Doreen, these centerpieces are absolutely beautiful and definitely inspire anyone who is thinking of creating something similar for their holiday decorating. I, myself, have always been attracted to the essence of natural elements, as opposed to store bought ‘bling’, more for my need to create, than anything else. Thanks for sharing these imaginative designs and hope that the fundraiser was fun and successful!
Happy weekend, to you!

This sounds like so much fun, Doreen! I could definitely use the guidance of some experienced ladies! I bought some evergreen stems (sorry, no trees in my backyard!) and I can’t wait to make something!

All of the natural arrangements and wreaths are fantastic…so great to have a friend who was a former art teacher to help you with it….and I really love the wreath with the feathers!

These are just lovely and enjoyable to view…I really like that frame surrounded by moss..it reminds me of gathering moss at my moms. The wreath with the purple bow reminds me of the advent wreaths that use the liturgical colors ( we never did…we used green wreaths and red candles but I know some churches use the purple )
Everything was just fun to see! 🙂

I’ve never noticed fungi in an arrangement before. Is that to be the next big thing? Or have people been doing it all along? It had to be so fun making arrangements all day and seeing what everybody comes up with. They’re all so pretty and different. I agree with you, mother nature is the best designer! Thanks for sharing, Doreen 🙂

Hi Amy! I’ve never noticed it before either, but I’m sure it’s been used before.
Thank you for stopping by! It’s always good to hear from you!
