Hello Everyone! I’ve got a few cute vase projects that are perfect for your Mom or any special lady in your life for Mother’s Day. It’s no secret flowers are the most popular gift for Mom on her special day, but instead of giving them to her in a boring vase, or no vase at all, why not make the vase something she’ll be happy to display in her home? There are so many ways to dress up vases, and happily some of the simplest are also the prettiest.
None of these vase makeovers need tutorials because they’re soooooo easy! I’ll just show you some pictures and do quick explanations of the materials you might need and you’re good to go.
I’ll start with a vase I did a few weeks ago.
You Will Need:
- Rubber bands of various widths
- Frosted spray paint
- Glass Vase
Place the rubber bands on the vase in a pattern you like and spray according to instructions on can. Remove bands when paint is completely dry.
For this project you will need:
- Natural hemp cord available in the jewelry section in your local craft store
- General purpose white glue and small brush for applying glue
- Vase
Starting at the bottom, place glue on a small area of the vase (just enough of an area for four or five wraps of the cording) and begin to wrap cording. When finished with first wrapping, place more glue and continue until finished. So what do you think of that beautiful persian cat in the picture? I threw out the first rule of photography with this one and had two subjects because I just wanted to show him off. He passed away many years ago, but he’s still the most gorgeous cat I’ve ever seen!
For this next project you will need:
- Two vases, one smaller than the other of similar heights
- Double sided tape
- Glitter
- Beads or any other item you choose, i.e., small rocks, candy, etc.
On the smaller vase, place double sided tape where desired and roll in glitter. Put the smaller vase inside larger vase and fill in area with beads.
For the small container on the right you will need:
- Stickers of choice
- Frosted spray paint
- Glass container/vase
Place stickers on vase where desired, making sure edges are secured. Spray according to instructions, and remove stickers when dry. For the vase on the left you will need:
- Skeleton Leaves
- Modge Podge and small brush
- Glass Vase
Place Modge Podge on leaves carefully and place on vase. Let dry and clean edges for a neat look.
For this project you will need:
- Fabric of choice
- Ribbon
- Button or pin (optional)
- Vase, preferably one with an hourglass shape
Wrap fabric around vase, secure with ribbon and sew on button if using.
The vase on the left was simply spray painted (with the exception of the upper portion) in red. I was getting tired of the mustard color that it used to be. The little red votive was lined with glass paint and placed in the oven at 350 for 40 minutes.
So that’s it! It’s as easy as that to make a vase something worthy of the beautiful flowers inside. So what are you waiting for?!
