Everything old is new again. Modge Podge has been around for so long, but it seems to be making a huge comeback, and for good reason. There is literally no end to the creative projects out there in blogland using this amazing stuff, so I decided to jump on the bandwagon.
My friend Elaine gave me this black bullhead made out of plastic and I thought it would be a good candidate for a makeover. I bought some wrapping paper in lime green and white and got to work. I won’t show you the steps because it’s so unbelievably easy you don’t need them. All I did was put a generous coat of modge podge on a portion of the head, say for instance, one of the horns, ripped up wrapping paper into small pieces and placed them on randomly until covered. I then put another layer of modge podge to secure the paper and add a sheen. There seems to be two kinds of modge podge finishes; matte and one with a sheen. I used the later, and was quite pleased with the end result.
One thing I will say is because the bull head has lots of curves and peaks and valleys, it might not have been as easy to do as something that is flat, but I think it came out pretty nice nonetheless. I must have used about a thousand pieces of wrapper paper, and this project took me about 4-5 hours to do!
Here he is in his final resting place. A big improvement from before, right? I think it’s kinda funky and this look is definitely trendy right now. I might even be on the look out for other items like deer heads, antlers, etc. that might work along side this one and create a wall like this one.
