Hello my friends, and how are you these days? As for us, we continue to enjoy the beautiful weather here in southwest Florida, as well as the many activities the resort and the surrounding areas have to offer. There doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day to do everything, and I know soon enough we’ll be packing our bags and heading north, so we’re trying to make the most of the time we have here.
We are currently in beautiful, fun-filled Venice, but while we were in Naples last month I took some photos of these beach front homes and thought I’d share them. Any of these could be yours for a mere 55 million or so, so what are you waiting for?
A close up of the ironwork above.
Love the white tile roof on this pretty home!
I believe the house on the right is a guest house. I’m wondering if they need any friends to stay there?
One of my favs…
This one is so big I couldn’t get the entire house in the frame from the beach!
Even though this house at first glance seems a bit boring compared to some of the others, I think it’s my favorite. I like the use of wood and how it has that tropical, but earthy feel.
Do you have a favorite?
In other news…
Last weekend we went to Ft. Myers, which is about 50 minutes south of Venice, for their RiverFest. There were more than 200 juried artists, one nicer than the other, but few were as impressive as this. More than 20,000 shells were used, and all were from the area. Imagine the amount of time it took?!
You may have seen this on IG or FB. What do you think?
We saw our friends home the other day, and also toured a few of the models. I took a quick shot of this dresser. Love it, and it’s not difficult to do, even if you’re not artistic.
I’ll leave you with this shot from our favorite tea spot in Naples. Fisherman went the traditional route, while I went rogue and ordered a salad and coke :).
That’s all for now. I may take a blog break, as there’s sooooo much to see and do and our internet is iffy at best. I’ll still try to visit you all though. I wouldn’t want you to forget about me…

Hi Doreen, My favorite is the same as yours although i think all are beautiful. Wow, I can’t imagine how many shells were used of the lobe bug! That poodle sure has a mod look. Love, love, love the dresser! I think it looks fabulous. Pretty table, yummy…….Enjoy your trip, you know how fast it goes by when you are having fun.

I could take ANY of those places, thank you! lol
I lived in Ft.Myers for many years and met my husband there. Back then it was such a small town and now it is huge. North Ft. Myers was really undeveloped back then.
I hope you have a wonderful time for the rest of your trip. xo Diana

I’m torn between #3 and #4 – I think I’ll buy both, lol! Glad the weather has been good for you this year. That shell car is like nothing I’ve ever seen! Nor is the dog, for that matter! Please don’t worry about visiting my blog while you’re in FL – I promise you I won’t forget who you are! Have fun!!!

LOVE!β₯ My favorite is the white-tiled home, yes please! WHo in their right mind would paint a dog like that? Dislike! Love the bug, though, as long as it was somebody else’s, not mine. Have fun. It’s so wonderful there, especially this time of year!
tammy j says
your favorite house is mine too. probably because out of all the hotel type monstrosities it looks the most livable! why on earth does anyone need a home that looks like a huge HOTEL???

Amazing homes, I think I’ll take anyone, let me know when we close. The car was amazing. Would never have the patience. I would have been the traditional like Fisherman with tea. You rebel you. Enjoy all the sunshine.

I’m so glad you’re keeping busy and having lots of fun! Total thumbs up on the shell car – and thumbs down on the rainbow poodle. π Lol!
Just enjoy and we’ll be here whenever you’re back!! Play some extra pickleball and get beach time for me!! The super white girl from the North! xoxo

Wowza! I don’t know if I could live in a 50 million dollar house! Well, maybe for a weekend. They are all gorgeous though. I love the shells on the bug and the painted dresser. Thanks for sharing all of these great towns in Florida. I have only been to Miami (in the 80’s), Tampa (my sisters house) and Orlando (Disney) area. I have not had the chance to explore any of the other gorgeous places to see.

Shhhhhh…how the other half lives! We can only dream!
Wow, that car is awesome. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time. I sure need a break. I’d like to go somewhere other than Asheville, well, in addition to. Sounds like we don’t know what a good thing we have but seriously, we try to stretch our dollars and we will never go out of the country. I thought maybe NYC and then a drive to Cape Cod. I love to put together trips. Mr. Journals would be happy fly fishing in NC every day of the week. Grrrrr…

Doreen those houses are so big. While they may be impressive all I can think about is who is gonna clean them. The car is amazing. I can’t imagine the time spent to make it but it is well worth it. And that poor dog, who could do such a thing?
Stay in Florida and enjoy your time there because from what I hear it is pretty crazy up north. The weather is going up and down like a yo-yo.

Drooling over houses I can’t afford… One of my favourite sport!

We spent 2 weeks in Naples Florida and it was wonderful. And it’s very wonderful both hubby and I retired last year. My neighbors spent the winter in Venice Florida. That’s thei favorite area.

Can’t imagine a house that big or expensive. Goodness.
Love the Bug covered with shells. Wow! Sounds like you’re enjoying this winter much more than last one. Yum, tea. Reminds me of England. π

Poor poodle…who would do that??!! Well, I suppose it’s a poodle, with all of the colors, it is difficult to tell!! That car with all those shells….geez…how many hours of slave labor that had to be!! The houses are exquisite and breathtaking!! I noticed they all had nice big verandas and balconies…perfect for watching the hurricane come in! π I love beachfront homes and while it would be awesome to have one…rich or poor….I would be terrified of losing it in all the storms! Hope you are having fun and that the ankle is healing nicely! Love and hugs to you!!

Happy Valentine’s Day, Doreen!
The Port Royal homes are quite impressive, but even if I had the cash, I would buy something hundreds of thousands of dollars smaller!
So glad you are having a fun time in Venice. Enjoy, my friend!

Was that a typo? $55 million? Yes, your favorite would be my pick too, preferably overlooking a mountain valley, but it does have an organic look to it that the others don’t.
We spent a few days in Ft. Meyers decades ago and loved it but I have an idea it was much more a old time FL town then that it probably is now.
Have lots of fun, Doreen!

Those houses are charming, Doreen. Lots of palm trees in southwest Florida just like southern California. wow, look at that shell love bug, that’s cool. It looks like it would take a lot of time creating this. And that rainbow poodle is something else. He’s soooo cute. Your meal looks Yummy at your favorite tea place in Naples.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Doreen! And thank you for the comment on my judging post. You are a gem.

Lovely pictures, as usual, Doreen. I love the yellow house with the white roofββgorgeous! The Volkswagen with the shells is so beautiful. I would be so paranoid for anyone to come near it though. Shells are so delicate. Have fun! π xx

That shell covered car is something I’ve never seen before! Also that tie dye poodle is hilarious! Looks like you’re having fun in FL. We’re going there in May after school is out.
Vickie says
I’ll take the home with the white tile roof for a month, please! They’re all beautiful, especially set against the bright blue skies. Enjoy the rest of your visit!
Lidy@FrenchGardenHouse says
Doreen, each one of those homes is stunning. Who wouldn’t want a house on the beach?! I really enjoyed the shell- covered car, what a labor of love that is. Enjoy the beautiful weather, the skies look amazing. Here in California we are getting much needed rain( a little too much of it) but will enjoy springtime with green gardens and beautiful flowers. I like the more rustic ones, too, but I do love the one with the melon colored shutters. And that white tile roof?! What a statement. So glad you are enjoying yourself down there. Who needs an internet connection with the kind of views you are enjoying π
Red Rose Alley says
Doreen, Thanks for the comment on my cheery yellow post. I never had the flu, my dear. Are you mixing me up
with someone else? I hope you are having fun in your travels. Yes, it’s been raining like crazy here, but not so
much that there is any major flooding.
love, ~Sheri

Who could ever forget you, Doreen. I’m glad you’re having such a wonderful time.
The homes you pass on your walk are sensational – each one more beautiful than the next.
I love that little chest of drawers with the painting on the front. Simple? no, not for me. The artistic gene missed
me totally, but I could definitely see you taking on a project like that. There’s no end to your talents!
Enjoy every minute of your adventures and don’t rush home just yet – it was 9 degrees last night! xoxo
