Thirty years ago on July 30th, 1983, I walked down the aisle toward the man I would grow old with. The man that would make me laugh almost every day. The man that can fix things, never leaves the toilet seat up and always has a tissue handy (I never do).
Thirty years ago, 30 years seemed like an eternity, but the time flew by like Flash Gordon on steroids. I remember that day well. We had a great time at our wedding, and I believe everyone else did as well. I only had one Bridezilla moment at the reception, but hey, I was entitled.
You can tell this was an early 1980’s wedding, right? It’s funny how tux’s never really change much, but wedding dresses definitely do! Hummmm…maybe that necklace will end up on our daughter’s broach bouquet? Edited to add: it did indeed have a starring role in the bouquet, which turned out better than I had imagined. You can see the results here.
We went on a cruise for our honeymoon and dressed up as a set of dice for costume night. A word of advice: don’t try that at home. It’s tough trying to sit down when you’re enclosed in a box, much less go to the bathroom. :/
Here we are nearly 30 years later, with a few more pounds and wrinkles and still dressing up in silly costumes…
But we’re still smiling. That’s good enough for me.
