Doreen, it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance on Kris’ spotlight this morning. As I said on her blog, “I like this woman!” I am signing up for future posts, and look forward to browsing old posts so I can get to know you better.

That is great, Doreen! I went over to read before leaving a comment here…love it! You’ve been a big encouragement to me on this blogging journey. (Oh, I want my sixteen year old body back too. Lol). Have a great weekend!
Hugs,

Well Kris, seeing as my email is flooded with new subscribers I do believe it is I who should be thanking YOU! Holy moly! I don’t think I’ve gotten this many subscribers in a month, much less a day! Can we do this again?? lol

Hi Doreen, saw your spotlight feature at Kris’. LOVE your sense of humor, adventurous spirit, can do attitude, and tell it like it is candor. Nice to see you featured!
From a BAM who remembers Home Ec Class (putting garlic in my muffins for the teacher) and surprisingly passing the class.
Doreen says
LOL! Now why didn’t I think of that??
Kim says
I visited Kris! I love your story Doreen, your sense of humor and, wow, that dress! You go girl! 😉

How wonderful! It was so nice to get to know a little more about you, especially your careers and life pre-cottage. I don’t remember exactly when I started following your blog but I think it was somewhere around the move to the cabin. Also, I’m only 33 and I took Home Ec, so I think that disproves your “anyone who took it is older than dirt” theory.
Doreen says
Kudos to your educational system if they’re still offering HomeEc Al! I can’t think of one school around here that does anymore, so it’s nice to hear.
(I just checked all your comments and the first one from you was in July of 2013, which was a little less than a year before we moved full time to the cabin.)

Doreen, every time I think I know everything I learn something new. Did I miss the performing somewhere. You’ve had a fun life.
I should have learned to sew from my mom as you did from your grandma.
Tuscany would so be on my list. The food and the countryside.
It’s a pleasure knowing you dear friend. Now do I know all, well maybe not all, LOL
Have a super weekend!
Cindy

Hi Doreen, I truly loved your spotlight! It was so fun getting to know you better. I’ll share a little secret with you – I have a muffin top to. I think it’s because I am 61 to! You have always been such a great follower of my blog thank you so much. I have tried several times to follow your by email but for some reason a window pops up and says it an error. Crazy! I will keep trying. It looks like life is full for you and that is wonderful. Your daughter is almost as beautiful as her mother! Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Jo

I truly enjoyed reading more about you, Doreen – and guess what? I’m from Queens also!! And then Long Island – and then back to Queens.
I knew I liked you!! You’re a Queens girl!!
Your daughter is absolutely stunning. Just like her mother!

I just LOVED that so much Doreen!! It was so fun to learn even more about you – especially when I clicked on the extra about you starting your own business. You continue to amaze and impress! My hubby and his brother have been quite entrepreneurial too. They owned several rentals when my hubby finished college and went on from there to now own subsidized housing, a management company, an electric company, a realty company and a window making company. You are definitely a Gal after our own hearts! I finished college to become a bleeding heart social worker until it burnt me out and I joined my hubby’s bandwagon. Lol
You are just the absolute CUTEST thing ever too!! I absolutely loved the adorable photos of you from your youth. One hot Mama too – just like your daughter! And to put on top of that you’re smart, funny and creative. The true triple threat. 😉
Truly – that was just so fun. Blessings on the rest of your weekend Doll. xoxo
PS: Can I commission you now to make a similar bouquet for my daughter’s wedding one day? That is still one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. If she doesn’t end up keeping it I’ll just keep it to look at and enjoy everyday. I’d make it worth your while – just sayin…. Lol 😉
Doreen says
Carrie, your comments always make me smile. Truly, you are such a sweetheart! I knew that about your hubby. At some point you probably mentioned it on your blog, because I remember reading it somewhere. Social work is a lot harder than most people realize, so I can understand why you would opt out.
I’d be honored to make a bouquet for your daughter. She’s got a few years before she gets to the point that she’ll need one, but as long as my fingers aren’t arthritic I’m your gal! lol
carrie@northwoods scrapbook says
You brought tears to my eyes and made my day Lady! So wonderful that just doing some blogging could connect me to the most wonderful friends. 😉
Who knows what the future will bring, but my prayers for my kiddo hope and wish that her happiness will include marriage. I’ll start collecting brooches now in the hopes that one day she will need a bouquet. If not I’ll use them to make a stunning arrangement of some kind. Lol! You’re such a Gem! (pun intended). That arrangement is legacy worthy and so classic that it could be shared from generation to generation.
xoxo

I learned a lot from the Spotlight post!
Now I need to go back and read some more past posts of yours.
You just crack me up and you are so fun!
Love getting to know you a little bit better.
And your daughter is stunning!
Sorry that she’s so far away though. 🙁
But glad you got more family here and adorable grandkids!
and your frisky hubby! LOL!
Doreen says
Cindi! Thank you so much my fellow animal lover 🙂 I wanted to let you know I received your email update, but when I clicked on the link it said your page didn’t exist. There was a link to Instagram so I clicked on that and it said the same thing! Hope everything is ok? Anyway, I read the post in the email anyway and wow, poor Blue! So glad he will be ok, but you must have aged a few years with that one!
Betty says
Hi, just came over from Kris blog to check out your blog. Loved hearing your story.
Jane says
Hey pretty lady!!! I so, so enjoyed your post at Kris’. I am super nosy but I hold back with bloggers so I love her features. I am amazed by your life. Can I be a little uncouth?? You have balls!! But I knew that. And I think that’s why I’ve always appreciated you, your posts and our emails. And what an incredible life you have had…dancer, corporate girl, city/country mouse (I identify with that for sure), following your heart and dreams, making them realities.
You always make me smile, laugh and think. I am beyond happy we met.
I couldn’t seem to leave a comment on Kris’ blog. She’s a great lady. You know we met…it was such a great day shopping and having lunch at her gorgeous home.
Now…if we missed anything, please post!

Doreen, it was so much fun reading about you in Kris’s blog. What an intersting and fun life you are having, and living it to the fullest. I want you to know that I am in your Bucket List desitination of Greece so if you ever decide to drop by, you have a friend waiting for you.

Loved your spotlight post, Doreen! You are one interesting lady! Yes, I already knew that, but I really enjoyed getting to know more about where you’ve come from, that makes you the fabulous blogger you are today 🙂

Doreen, it was absolutely amazing! What a great job you did of revealing even more of the real Doreen. I thank you because inquiring minds want to know!
I especially loved the pictures from your younger than dirt days because I like to believe that that girl is still are essential self and we should honor her always.
Must get up now and stop trying to catch up on blogging as my husband is giving me the “aren’t you spending too much time on this?” look. A blogging break is sometimes needed and very helpful but frustrating to try to catch up with what all the girls have been doing.

You had me at the Berkshires!! I love that area. We were just there this past summer. I love going to the towns in that area and I have a girlfriend that owns an inn there that overlaps NY and Mass, in Hillsdale. So fun to get to know you!

Doreen, I love this feature of you! I had so much fun reading all about you and those pictures were amazing. You looked like a hollywood movie star in some of those pictures. You were and still are gorgeous! You came across as you are charming, witty, and interesting. 😉 <3
