Is it weird to say I love towel racks?
Don’t answer that.
I just think they’re so versatile and allow you to be so creative for not much cost or effort. There’s no need to settle for a humdrum towel rack from your local big box store when there are so many cool options out there, and they can add tons of character, enhancing whatever theme you may have. You can borrow from nature, or recycle old materials, and build one that is both functional and fun. I thought I’d show you some industrial, beachy, rustic and cottage/vintage ideas to suit almost every taste.
Let’s start with industrial. I love ALL these ideas, but clearly the first one provides the most storage. Always a good thing.
This first one comes from Ana White. You DO know her, don’t you?
I personally think it should be illegal for someone to be that pretty and talented…

Now, let’s move on to your beach house. You DO have one dahhhling, right?

Let’s go to the woods, and check out a log cabin. Maybe mine?
This idea can function as both a towel rack and coat rack. It makes quite a design statement, and would look equally at home in a contemporary space as a rustic one.

Is that a stirrup? Yes it is. I told you these ideas would be creative!
Knowing me, I’d hit my head on these or poke my eye out, and they better be faux!
I’ve saved the best for last, ’cause I know you all love vintage and cottage designs, right?
If you can stand to look at yet another palette/crate project, this one actually is super easy and practical.

Door knobs come in a ton of shapes, sizes, and styles, making them a easy and practical alternative to hold your towels. Think out of the box too, and use creative hooks, draw pulls…almost anything that can be screwed in and hold a towel is fair game.
Source
An old ladder not only holds your towels with no changes needed to the structure, but also has a great vintage vibe that adds a lot of character to a space. We actually have something similar in our downstairs guest bath, but we made it from scratch. Easy peasy.

Have any of these gotten your creative juices flowing?
In other news…
We continue to enjoy our time in Florida, in spite of Fisherman’s bronchitis. I’m happy to be in a place that offers plenty of activities, and I’ve been making the most of them. Jewelry making, painting, photography, biking and fitness classes to name a few. Alas, the fitness classes aren’t helping my waistline! I haven’t stepped on a scale since we left home a couple of months ago. They have a scale at the resort, but there’s no way I’m stepping on one of those fully clothed. The numbers are scary enough when I’m nekkid!
The other day we took a short drive to Punta Gorda, a lovely town about 30 minutes south of Venice. Down by the marina they have bikes they lend out for free. We took advantage of it and biked for a bit, and when I came across this Banyon Tree I knew I had to share it. It looks like three separate trees, but it’s really just one. Amazing, isn’t it?
When we returned from biking we walked inside a shopping mall that is called Fisherman’s Village. It’s touristy but fun, and I just love this little guy we stumbled upon. It’s difficult to tell, but he is about 7″ tall, and is fully grown. I just wanted to take him home!
Till next time…

I love your new blog layout! The towel racks that you shared are so unique. I love the different styles. One of those rustic ones would be great in your home! Glad to hear that you’re still having a good time on your trip. Hope that your husband starts getting better soon. I’ve had bronchitis many times and it makes you feel miserable. The cough will linger for a long time after he’s better too unfortunately. That owl (or whatever it was) was pretty too. He let you get very close to him!

Well you have me seeing towel racks in a whole new light Lady. I’ve never really thought of them much as anything other than functional and making sure they match the light fixtures. But I LOVE so many of these ideas!! That rope in a beachy house is genius! And the ladder idea is so cool. Love it! 😉
Glad you’re continuing to have fun – and hope the poor hubby fully kicks his crud soon. Please keep sending sunshine and warmth this way. 🙂 I want to be in my shorts riding a bike. ::sigh::
