I was going to name this post ‘what to do if you happen to have 3 hours to kill and a ton of patience’, but I didn’t think that would exactly pull you in. :-/. Stick with me though. This is a nice thing to do if you’re giving someone a special outfit and you want to add that extra something to it. Maybe a Christening dress, evening dress, tux…you get the picture. It’s definitely not something you would do for your entire closet, unless you had the patience of a saint.
Are you still with me? Good, let’s get to it.
I had (and still do) a ton of wallpaper that I got for free at a church tag sale and decided to Mod Podge some onto wooden hangers. If you decide to do this project you will need the following:
- Wooden hanger(s)
- Paper of choice
- Mod Podge
- Clip Earrings, buttons, etc. (optional)
- Thin Ribbon for the hook (optional)
- Ribbon (optional)
- Polyurethane (optional)
You will need a very small amount of paper for this project. To give you an idea, maybe the size of an 8×10 sheet of paper and perhaps a little bit more. Rip it up into small pieces and start gluing it on the hanger. This is the part that takes a while, so you might want to consider doing this on some towels in front of the TV while you’re watching Dancing With The Stars. And while we’re on THAT subject, isn’t Corbin amazing?
I did this project standing up the whole time in my craft room. Not smart.
Let it dry then put some Mod Podge on the hook and wrap with thin ribbon, if using. Put a minimum of two coats of poly, if desired, letting it dry between coats. Check your stash for any clip earrings or buttons and place on the end of the hook. If using a button you will need to hot glue it. (I prefer the earrings.) Tie it up with a ribbon and you’re done.
FINALLY!
If you’re observant, you’ll notice I changed up the earrings from the pics above. Don’t judge me. A girl can change her mind. Right now, they’re hanging in the closet at the cabin. There’s no light in there so the pics aren’t so great, but you get the idea.
So what do you think? Would you ever do something like this, or do you think I’ve gone over the edge? I still have a ton of paper leftover. Maybe I can Mod Podge some mini blinds…

Doreeen, I absolutely love these and they are gorgeous! I realize they take some time to make but wow, this would make such a wonderful gift! Guess I could do this with scrapbook paper, right? I have a ton of that!! I wonder how wrapping paper would work? Now, if you DO Mod Podge mini blinds, my friend, THEN I will think you’ve gone over the edge! 🙂 Thanks for sharing and pinning! Have a happy Monday and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Lol! Thank you Cindy :). This is one of those projects I wondered if people would click right past because it’s somewhat labor intensive. They’re probably doing that, but it’s nice to hear from someone that is at least considering it! Yes, you can use scrap paper and wallpaper is what I used. Anything that can be glued will work. I kinda wished this project used more paper! I still have sooooo much left over. Basically a few entire rolls. Maybe I should cover some boxes, then my closet will be coordinated lol.
Have a great Holiday!

I love the pretty colors. I like to find hangers at the thrift store and this definitely makes them even better! Enjoy your week my friend!

This is such a cute idea! I really love how they turned out!! This would even be a great idea for a gift itself, like a group of three for a bridal shower. If I had my way, I think I’d Mod Podge just about anything. I love ’em!! Pinned
