Seems a lot of people are curious about this event. Some of you have heard of it. While others like myself were blissfully unaware that it existed.
But fear not my fellow earth dwellers…
Together we shall come out of the shadows of ignorance and darkness and join our hands in love, brotherhood and understanding and shout…
WHAT THE??
Nuf’ said. Enjoy.
A somewhat random shot showing you the location of the event. There was a food truck festival taking place simultaneously. What can be better than great weather, good food, live music and hundreds of freakies to look at?
Now you didn’t think I wouldn’t join in now, did you??
In other news…
Guess what? We got the rocks delivered for the backyard today! Calling them rocks is a bit misleading. They’re freakin’ boulders! I thought they were going to be regular sized rocks, but they’re huge! It’s going to make such a difference and I can’t wait to share that with you :).
Magali@TheLittleWhiteHouse says
I’ve always find the comi com events very funny and I enjoyed seeing your pictures!
Emily says
Looks as if everyone was enjoying the dress up and good times. Enjoyed the photography……..
Happy Saturday.
Pinky at Designs by Pinky says
What does comi com stand for??? I am blissfully ignorant of all this:) I guess it was fun for them. Looking forward to seeing the boulders!
Doreen says
It stands for comic convention and I was ignorant of it too, albough I had seen scenes from it in movies like Ted2. We should start a convention for the blissfully ignorant. Our costumes will consist of sensible shoes and elastic waisted pants, and maybe we can go really wild and throw in some hair rollers. 😉
Julie says
Thanks for sharing you fun photos and I love the costumes. Looks like a fun day with food too. Enjoy your weekend Doreen!
Jane says
This looks fun! I guess if I had small kids I would know who was who!!

I think I would have gotten over-stimulated fast. Now be careful with those boulders!

i knew about comi con from watching that hit show about the four physicists… ‘the big bang theory!’
i would love to dress up as something! but as to comics… the only ones i ever read were archie… little lulu… and millie the model! LOLOL
love your comment to pinky! I’M IN! so long as we can also wear sandals with socks. LOLOL!!!
Doreen says
OMG!!! No sandals and socks! I told my husband if he EVER wore those I’d hit the road faster than you can say ‘old fart’, so you best believe I’ll never be caught dead with those, and you better not either Missy! LOL

Happy Monday Doreen!
I have been anxiously waiting for Monday, so I could get overer here and read this post! We were in Dallas much of the weekend, but our outings cannot compare to yours! hehehe!
I bet the boys loved this event and just look at the beautiful weather too-the skies cleared just for you!
I see everyone was willing to pose for a photo and wow, there was an assortment of characters and it appears they all participated with a zest and zeal unlike any other-whoohoo!
I love your cobalt blue dress-the color is lovely on you.
Ok, now for my Monday morning lecture-boulders….seriously NO lifting!

Doreen says
You’re right, everyone loved to pose for photos for sure! We actually didn’t have the boys last weekend. We have them now and they will be heading home shortly, but you’re right again, they would have loved it. (The older boy (12) is at the age where he’s very much involved with baseball so there are obstacles with his games and trainings on weekends.)
Now about those boulders…no way we could move them, so no worries there. I’m pretty sure the lightest one weighs more than 500 lbs at least!

I’ve heard of this event and seen it on the news. I think they’ve been to Atlanta a few times too. I have never been though. It’s like Halloween in the summer! I know it’s a BIG event though and celebrates super heroes doesn’t it? Something like that.
Doreen says
Yes, super heroes and pretty much every comic strip character you can imagine and then some!
Dewena says
“Out of the shadows of ignorance and darkness” I’m announcing here that I was there, in costume, and you caught me! But I’m not going to tell you which one. You’ll have to guess.
You are too much, Doreen the fun queen!

I’m not a comic person so I don’t know who any of them are, some look really weird through! Bet the kids loved it.
Pattie @ Olla-Podrida says
What great photos! I’ve never been to ComicCon in San Diego, or the smaller version of it in St. Louis, but it would be worth it alone, I think, just for the photo opps!
carrie@northwoods scrapbook says
Ha! Love it!! I knew about comi-con out west, but didn’t know they did it in the east coast too. However, “freakies” live everywhere don’t they? 😉
Such fun photos! And I’m so excited about more progress in your back yard! Yay! Can’t wait to see!!
Happy week to you Hon! xoxo
Doreen says
They sure do Carrie! lol
It’s funny, I was thinking about you today and realized I owed you a visit soon, but you beat me to it ;).
I’ll catch ya’ later!

Now THAT was fun, Doreen! I’ve never been, but many of my former co-workers go every year.
Cecilia says
Haha, those are great. Thanks for the smiles but I have to admit the last one is my favorite. You’re too cute.
Glad you got the rocks finally. Can’t wait to see the finished yard!
Vashti Quiroz-Vega says
Ah, ha, ha, ha! I love the pictures, especially the last one! You’re so much fun. We have this event in Florida or something like it. My niece Natasha and nephew Josh make their own costumes and go every year. They always invite me but I’ve yet to go. I’ll make an effort to go next year. It looks like a blast! 😀
Amy @ StowandTellU says
Toooo freakin’ fun!!! In another life, I would be devoted comi-conner. Costumes and super heros, yep, that would be the life! xoxo
Feral Turtle says
Too cool! Imagine all the work put into some of these costumes. Looking forward to your backyard update!!
Deb @ Frugal Little Bungalow says
LOL loved the last one 🙂
Dee says
I have always wanted to go to that event, but I never did so thank you for so many wonderful pictures. I felt like I was right there with you. By the way, I’m glad I found your blog today. I really enjoyed the visit. Have a wonderful weekend… 🙂
Doreen says
Thank you Dee! BTW, our grandkids call me Dee Dee :). I’ll be stopping by your neck of the woods soon to return the favor.
Red Rose Alley says
wow, look at some of these outfits! Now, is that the Mad Hatter? It sure looks like it. Jess dressed up as the Mad Hatter one year because she loves Alice In Wonderland. And look at you joining in all the fun!
Have a great week.

So fun! We’ve always wanted to go to ComicCon. You can always tell when it’s in town (Atlanta).
Sue says
I got a little jolt of happiness looking at the costumes. I surprisingly liked the robots and multi-colored skirt and in awe about the rest and how professional the outfits are, well most of them. This is fun, but serious stuff.
