I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Autumn is so jaw-droppingly gorgeous. I’m convinced it’s nature’s way of teasing us. She’s letting us relish the visual feast before the chill and starkness of winter settles in.
Soon the deciduous trees will be bare, revealing their knarled branches that possess a beauty all their own, but for now I cherish the stunning crimson, gold and fiery reds that envelope the landscapes at this glorious time of year.
I never tire of Autumn, nor do I tire of creating vignettes that highlight the bounty this season has to offer.
The tables at the Clubhouse up at the cabin needed some color, and I was asked to put something together. I was given some gourds and two trays and after putting some poly on the gourds to help them last and spray painting two of them copper, this is what I came up with. It took all of 3 minutes to put together.
I love the plaid ribbon I picked up at Friedman’s on sale for $2.00, and I had the paper pumpkin and some leaves laying around so I put them to good use. Nothing fancy, but that’s the beauty of it.
There are lots of Autumn fairs this time of year. We went to two last weekend, and there was a glass-blowing facility nearby and I had to share this beautiful stained glass window with you. It saddens me workmanship like this is a thing of the past.
Here’s an interesting table made of forged iron and cut glass.
If I had my way, I would have a chandelier in every room of my house!
We found out the facility where the glass blowing factory is located is for sale. It used to be a church and is selling for under $500,000, but there are no baths or a kitchen so you’re basically just getting the space, but wouldn’t you love to get your hands on a church and renovate it to suit your needs??!
From the sublime to the ridiculous! Can you guess what kind of vendor this pig represents?
The fairs and festivals that take place up by the cabin are like the Fairs you might remember as a child. My friend came with us this weekend, and she pointed out that the Fairs are very old fashioned, but in a good way. All the vendors are local artists that make everything by hand, and there are no huge rides or games that are designed to empty your pockets. Does your area have Fall festivals also?
I’ll be heading up to the cabin early to get some projects done which I’ll share with you soon, but mostly I just need to do some much needed cleaning and organizing, and maybe take a ride to Hobby Lobby. There’s also a flea market a local historical society is running that promises to have some vintage broaches so I’m going to try to get to that on Saturday.
Enjoy the season!

Great table decorations! I love cute and simple! I bet it’s gorgeous up at the cabin right now! Alas, it is still warm here although today we do have a cold front blowing through and it’s raining and the high will only reach 60! I LOVE IT! LOL!~~Angela

Hi Doreen,
I so enjoyed this wonderful autumnal post, featuring your beautiful centerpiece of fall’s protagonists, and was sweetly surprised by that pretty plaid ribbon in the season’s hues! You are so creative and resourceful, my friend!
What fun those old fashioned fairs are! You are lucky to have them near you; I am more than nostalgic for our Canadian country fairs, especially at this time of year, when they are full of autumn’s bountiful fruits, with which pies and other delicacies are created. We had an apple festival in the next village over, but sadly, I missed it. Great visiting you here today, and hope you get your cleaning done so that you can start with the fun stuff!
Happy weekend,
xo

Doreen, I loved your easy fall decor. Simple and elegant, and no digging through boxes! Your setting can stay out through to Christmas, (that’s what I like about fall decor!) Sounds like a great fair with real artisans.
Lovely!
Hugs,
Patti
