For the last five years, our Grandson and I have gotten together a few weeks before Christmas to make a Gingerbread House. For the first two years, we took a workshop being offered at a local restaurant, but I decided it would be more fun to pick out our own candy and make them on our own, and it was! After the houses are finished,

Glitter Inspired Holiday Houses
I love white and I love glitter. Put the two together and I’m sold. This project is super easy, super fun and…super messy! Yup, you need to be prepared for that. No matter how hard you try, this stuff will get on your floors so plan to do some vacuuming when you’re done. So you may as well get the kids involved. They’ll love it.
How to Paint a Rug
During my latest post about our dining area progress I showed what was the first step in my first ever rug painting effort. Many years ago I painted a few canvas rugs, but painting on actual fabric was a new experience for me. I read about it over at Tatertots & Jello and it looked pretty straight forward and I’m happy to say it was! I’ve been
Dining Room Progress
If you’ve been following along, you know I’m on a mission to soften up the interior of our log cabin weekend home. I’ve talked about our piano bar and some ASCP projects I’ve done to lighten the space up a bit. I decided I wanted to put some drapes behind the piano to add not only softness but perhaps interject some much needed pattern. I
Our Piano is Pimped Up!
I recently wrote about an old piano that was left behind from the previous homeowners that I painted white. I really liked how it came out, but after a few weeks I decided it needed a little more fine tuning (pun intended). Here it is in its original state. As you can see, the walls are brown, the floors are brown and the window covering
I Painted Our Piano Bar White!
Yes indeed, I took the plunge. A while back, I wrote a post about how we repurposed this piano that was left behind when we purchased our weekend home by the sellers into a piano bar. If you haven’t read it, here’s a link. If you’ve been reading along lately, you’ll know I’ve been trying to turn our boring brown space at the
Putting ASCP Old White to good use
I’ve been thinking about painting our piano bar using ASCP in Old White, so I purchased a quart a few weeks ago. Painting the piano would be such a huge time sucker and we’re only at the cabin on weekends, so I guess I’ve been putting it off. It’s probably a project better suited for when there’s nothing else to do and the weather is
Autumn Whispers
Hey there! I just wanted to share a few pictures of in and around our place in Massachusetts. Are you feeling sad that winter is almost upon us? I am, but for now, these pics will keep me going. Hope you enjoy. The smallest library I’ve ever been in. It’s even cuter inside. And when you return books, you can just leave them in the
Globe stand repurposed
About a year or two ago I bought a large globe on a stand for $2.00 at a tag sale. The part of the stand that screwed into the globe was broken, but fisherman fixed it and it was fine for a while. A few weeks ago while our grandson was playing with it, it broke and this time it couldn’t be fixed. I decided
