Would you like a tour of our weekend cabin? Who would you like to show you around? Think about that carefully, because if it’s me, this is what you’ll see…
Upon opening the door to the screened in porch, you’ll enter one of my favorite spaces. You’ll often find me here drinking my morning coffee, surfing the internet (ok, Pinterest) or reading. I love to be here when it’s raining too and just listen to the rain on the roof and smell the refreshed air it brings with it.
If the bugs aren’t out, how about we sit in the open part of the porch?
It’s getting chilly, so let’s step inside and warm up for a bit. The first thing you’ll see when you come in from the screened in porch on your left is our piano bar.
Fisherman makes a killer martini. How would you like yours, shaken not stirred?
Just behind the piano are the stairs leading to the basement. Patience Grasshopper. We’ll visit there soon.
We can sit at the cozy dining table while we have our drink…
If you’re hungry, let’s sit at the kitchen island and grab a snack.
But that’s not nearly as comfy as sitting in the living room…
Don’t get too comfortable though, I still have to show you a few more rooms before you see Fisherman’s favorite spaces.
The Master Bedroom is not very large, but big enough for our needs. It holds a comfy king size bed and houses a small walk in closet and en suite bath.
Here’s the very first craft project I shared with you all over a year ago shortly after I started blogging. Copper ‘leaves’ on twigs that came from a twig wreath.
If you open the door on the right, you’ll enter the bathroom. Except for the electrical and plumbing, Fisherman and I did this bathroom ourselves from scratch; the walls, ceiling, flooring, cabinet, mirrors…everything.
Fisherman is most proud of the miter cuts around the window. He’d rather have his nose hairs pulled one by one than do a project that involves miter cuts.
Just across the hall is the bedroom our grandsons use when they come up with us for the weekend. The bed is a trundle so can easily sleep two. Fisherman made the shelving which houses the gingerbread houses I’ve made each year with Mikey for four consecutive years. To get a close up view, click on the link. They’re adorable if I must say so myself.
Mikey’s favorite spot in the house is the loft. He’s decked it out pretty well, with cardboard boxes for a ‘fort’, foam padding which I’ve covered in fabric, some lighting and even snacks. He would spend all day up there if we let him!
Now that you’ve seen Mikey’s favorite room, it’s time for mine, so let’s go downstairs.
No explanation needed I assume? Just in case though, you can go here to see a bit more of my craft room.
Since we’re down here, let me show you where you’ll be sleeping tonight. It’s a nice size room with a queen bed and a small private bath.
If you’re not tired, grab a book and make yourself comfortable on the leather recliner.
He’d invite you to watch the game with him on this super comfy reclining coach…
Or maybe challenge you to a game of pool, air hockey or ping pong.
And of course, he’ll make you one of his famous martinis if you like.
He won’t let you leave without showing you ‘Buck’, the singing deer.
Are you on rustic overload yet?? How about we head outside now?
In the morning, maybe we’ll have breakfast on the deck. Buttermilk blueberry pancakes sound ok?
Of course, after breakfast we have to take the two minute walk to the lake!
Grab a boat and enjoy the beautiful day.
As evening comes, maybe we’ll get lucky and see a lovely sunset…
and have a bonfire and roast some marshmallows.

Psssst…you’re not going to believe the ‘before’s’!
I hope you enjoyed your visit at our cabin because we loved having you!
