I got inspired to write this post because, frankly, I got my knickers in a knot. A few weeks ago I came across an episode of ‘That 80s Show’. Apparently, it was a spin off its more successful predecessor, ‘That 70s Show’, but failed miserably in the ratings and lasted 13 episodes. The show pretty much ragged on fads that occurred in the 80’s. Ok, so maybe the ‘big-hair’ 80’s wasn’t our finest moment, but are you seriously going to put armoires on the chopping block? They pretty much said anyone who still owns an armoire is about as out of touch with modern day life as an old man in Boca wearing white socks and sandals. (And if you’re reading this and you know someone who does that, it’s not a good look. Just sayin’.)
Sure, almost everyone has brought their tv out into the open, us included, but as far as I’m concerned, that’s like putting lipstick on a pig. I’d rather just hide the pig.
I’ve yet to come across a tv as pretty as this…
or this…(cute pooch too)
and definitely not this!
And check out this beauty that was listed on etsy (sorry, it’s sold).
I would love to have an armoire in my bathroom to store linens. It’s so, well, it’s just so pretty and elegant!
Now I’m not saying you shouldn’t have an exposed tv. As I mentioned, we do as well. Sometimes it’s just the practical thing to do. What I AM saying is there is no way an armoire should be considered a decorating faux paux. Seriously?? That’s like saying a ’59 Thunderbird is a relic. There are few furniture pieces as beautiful as armoires. Come to think of it, I’m glad no one wants them anymore. Maybe as the demand goes down, so shall the prices. More for me then!
What do you think? Do you have your tv’s out in the open? Is that your preference, or would you prefer to hide them?
