I’ve come to the conclusion I’m a bit of a button freak. There’s something about them that appeals to me. I think it’s the endless possibilities they create for decorating or updating an old jacket or blouse, and lately I’ve been seeing so many that are so darn cute and creative.
I spent about an hour a few months ago at just browsing through some buttons, some of which I’ve used in this bouquet. Back in May, I made a cute button bouquet and I have to say it was one of the easiest and most fun projects I’ve ever done. (If you want to see that bouquet and get the ‘how-to’ on how to make one, click on over to here.)
For this bouquet, I took an inexpensive glass vase and covered it with string and some ‘perfect for Fall’ burlap ribbon using plain white glue to adhere it.
Here’s the other side of the bouquet and as you can see I used some felt ‘buttons’, which come in a pack at Joanne’s or Michael’s and are super inexpensive.
This is a great project for kids, and in fact I did some ‘flowers’ with my sister-in-law’s 10 year old granddaughter and she really enjoyed the process. Something about picking out which buttons go with each other gets the creative juices flowing and really makes children feel like they have an input in the end result.
Do you think this would make a cute holiday gift for children to give to an Aunt or Grandparent?
