Our friends Ted & Penny have, in my not so humble opinion, one of the nicest homes in our lake community. For starters, it’s right on the lake, so even if the inside looked like it belonged on TLC’s ‘Buried Alive’, it would still be a keeper, but Penny’s innate ability to put together furnishings and patterns takes their home to a place worthy of…well, worthy of blogging about!
Don’t you just love the high, white beamed ceilings? It really opens up the space and makes it feel light, bright and airy.
Not everyone has the confidence to mix patterns like this, but Penny does and she does it with style. The toile and floral rugs go nicely together and create such a cozy, sophisticated feel to the space.
Sometimes it’s best to just leave wood furniture as is. This antique dresser has such a lovely patina, it would be a shame to cover it up.
Penny has created some pretty nature inspired vignettes throughout her home.
Penny loved owls and chippy paint before they were so popular.
How cute is this?
Avid gardeners, Ted & Penny created a sun room where they display beautiful plants.
A self-professed ‘plate junkie’, Penny always has beautiful tablescapes at her dinner parties.
As much as I love the inside, it’s the outside that has me drooling.
In a few weeks their garden will be alive with color, but a few weeks ago the daffodils were in bloom and I snapped a couple of pictures.
I’ve noticed many people are either lake people or ocean people, but I’m both. I’ll take either one tyvm. What about you?

Oh my, what a place. I would live on that deck over-looking the water.
Thanks for showing this beautiful home.

Thoroughly enjoyable…just viewing your photos provided a lovely get-away! I love the house, the decor and I’m a plate person, too. But the daffodils really did me in!

So when do I get to come over to their lake house? Sure, I realize they don’t know me, but they’re friends with you, and you’ll vouch for me, right?
Sure, I realize you don’t know me, but how scary can I really be?
Don’t answer that.
This house is amazing and I just want to be there. I want to curl up on that couch on a rainy day and take a nap. I want to sit on that deck and stare at the water. So seriously, when is this happening? 🙂

Don’t tell anyone, but the owners of this home were bound and gagged in the closet while I was taking these pictures. I just wanted to make it look like I have cool friends with cool houses, but instead I ended up with a warrant for my arrest. You’d think they’d be grateful I showcased their house! SOME PEOPLE!
But if they were my friends I’d totally invite you! I imagine you’d be a fun dinner guest ;).
Lisa Newlin says
You know, some people can be SO touchy about a little breaking and entering. Throw in tying them up and putting them in a closet for a few hours, and they get all “I’m going to call the police” and “I can see crazy in your eyes.”
Your friends clearly don’t realize how nice and thoughtful you were in (1) showcasing their beautiful home and (2) freeing them after you ate all the cheesecake in the fridge.
If you were really a bad person, you would have left them tied up even after you emptied the contents of their fridge into your belly.
Sounds to me like they’re uptight. (I feel like there’s a joke here with the tying up of the rope and the use of the word uptight, but I can’t get there, so I’ll just leave it for your imagination.)
