A few years ago I picked up four folding chairs at a garage sale. I think I paid $10 for the four of them, but I’m not sure. Suffice it to say they were cheap. They clearly were pretty old, but not in a bad way. In a way that told me they were well made. I put them away and probably used them just a few times when we’ve had company and we needed more seating.
Last year I thought about giving them a makeover and the first order of business was to remove the seat so I could put some nice fabric on it, but I quickly figured out the seats couldn’t be removed so that wasn’t an option. The chair seat was covered in vinyl and since I didn’t know what to do with it I ended up doing nothing. At least until recently when I figured I would give ASCP a try. That stuff pretty much covers anything, plus since the chairs won’t get a lot of use I think it will be just fine.
I picked up some wood stickers at Michael’s for simple embellishments, and decided to use Emperor Red with a little black added (like I did here) and Old White.
In case you’re wondering what’s on the floor in front of the chairs, it’s some more glass inserts for the kitchen cabinets. You can read about that here.
The wall hanging was made last year with some scrap wood and I picked up the containers at Michael’s for just a few dollars. This is a covered area so it’s held up fairly well.
Come on over and sit a spell darlin’!
The only items I purchased for this re-do were the stickers which cost just under $5.00, and I have enough for all four chairs. Not too shabby.
I’m not 100% sure I like the white stripes on the bottom, but I can always paint over those if they don’t grow on me. What do you think? I’ve got two more chairs to paint so I’d love to know.
